TURNS LEFT NOT RIGHT

UNDER CETAIN CONDITIONS MY BOAT WILL NOT TURN RIGHT. IDLING AND ON STEP I HAVE NO ISSUES. HOWEVER SOMETIMES ON WATER UNDER MEDIUM OR LOW POWER I CAN NOT EVEN PUSH THE STICK FORWARD TO MAKE THE BOAT TURN RIGHT.
NO MUCH TO GO ON IN ALASKA SO ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

Welcome to SA BUSERDOG :salute:

A bit more info is needed to give you advice on your issue.

Boat setup: hull size, motor, prop diameter, rudder size (height, width between rudders, inches from prop)

A photo from rear and side will help as well :thumbleft:

Start with basics first, is engine and drive centerline plumb to boat centerline? Next, let the rudders loose from cable or drag link, run engine up, do they favor one position from neutral? Meaning is the rudder stick pushing back to where you have to keep pressure on it to make it go straight? If engine is plumb to boat, and the stick is doing as described, you need to trim tab the rudders so they stay neutral under power.
Now, 20' is a large craft, the powerplant and gear driven airscrew is very boastful, I hope the rudders you have are at least 5' tall and of a thick airfoil design with at least a 22/24" chord, otherwise you are fighting torque roll otherwise known as P factor.

Are you talking about a loss of turning ability in a low to medium power application while the hull is not on plane and when exposed to a wind.

If so it's fairly common to see the boat respond strong in one direction and weak in another based on prop rotation.

When your trying to power out to the weak turn side rather than get a steering response you seem to just sail toward what your trying to avoid faster?

Big boat, huge profile, poor steering ability and no keel. Your flying a Kite !

Don't take this as being a smart ass but running a big boat in wind is a lot like sailing. You learn to set the boat so it will tack to the desired route and keep your strong side turn as a recovery tool if things go wrong. It's hard going through narrow channels or creek beds in a +15mph wind with a large profile.
