Florida bill would require anger management courses for ammo

A Florida legislator wants anyone trying to buy ammunition to complete an anger management program first, in what critics say is the latest example of local lawmakers reaching for constitutionally-dubious solutions to the problem of gun violence.

The bill filed Saturday by state Sen. Audrey Gibson, D-Jacksonville, would require a three-day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of ammunition to anyone who has not completed anger management courses. The proposal would require ammo buyers to take the anger management courses every 10 years.


Gibson said she’s concerned with citizens stockpiling ammunition, potentially creating dangerous situations should those individuals ever come in contact with law enforcement agencies or criminals.

“It’s about getting people to think, really, about how much ammunition they need,” Gibson said. “It’s a step, I think, in a safer direction. It’s about getting people to think before they buy.”

I come in contact with LEOs every day and they all know they are welcome to borrow any of my guns, and ammo is always available to them anytime they want or need it, right from my private cache.

This woman has her head way out there in the wrong place. She should shut up, sit down and be seen and not herd.

Scotty, that is absolutely a great take on this ..... as I understand 'anger management' it's a course administered by local government to help people who admit that they have a problem dealing emotionally with stressful situations.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if this legislation doesn't prove to be just that kind of trap.

you don't have to admit anything, the court could order it, or if you are military they can mandate it, or PTSD at VA takes it, she is calling for a two hour class online every 10 yrs, sounds like a money racket. Her whole speech was on the bottom side of stupid!
