Thanks! I'm just wondering if running headers like that will reduce performance. I mean you gotta figure it's a small engine, and I want to try to keep the torque where it needs to be.Wild Bill wrote:Should be far enough away with glass, lookin great!

Thanks Junker. It's been on the ground since last weekend. The termites (if their are any) would have trouble chewing through 2 layers of fiberglass I am almost sure. And I thought about upstacks, but, a buddy of mine talked me out of it.Junker wrote:Should make yourself some upstacks...............

Re: New pictures of my build...FIXED IT!
I am getting closer. I have the cage fitted and the rudders in place. They ended up being a little closer to the hub than I wanted, but I think 5 inches will be fine. This boat is not near as heavy as I thought it would be. With the engine mounted I am still able to pick up one side of the boat. I can't flip it, but I can still pick it up. crazycoonass was there with me yesterday and he can vouch for it.

Just a reminder to everyone watching. This is a BACKYARD build. No special tools. I even made my own jig to bend my cage hoops. If I can do it, just about anyone else can. I started this build in November of last year and I am getting close to being finished. If anyone wants any help or advice to build their own all you have to do is PM me.

Russ, it's very light. I can pick it up (partially). One side anyway. How it will hold up will be another story. I am hoping to be able to throw the gas to it from where it lies and it takes off. I will know soon enough.

I think I read in another post it's around 500lbs total?
if so, thinking you only need around 300 lbs thrust to get it to move pretty well on dry. So, around 80hp or so?
Sure looks good to me, you've done good work in the back yard!

Yep, 500lbs is a rough estimate. Maybe a little more, but it isn't much. I've got 115hp hanging on the back so it should do well. If not run dry, it will be close.OneBFC wrote:I think I read in another post it's around 500lbs total?

If it has a leak, it will only leak into that chamber. There are 18 seperate chambers in this hull. The 3 on each side are sealed. The rest all tie into each other. Even if i pop a hole in it it still should float.

Can't wait to see the video!
My O 470 jugs were on the bench ready to assemble and install and then I broke the crank In my 454 ski boat. No problem, my wife let me work on it after my 12 hour work days so I could get it done in 5 days.
was tired but happy.
Your making better progress than me! Keep up the good work!
