Headed to whites to dyno a motor and bring 2 back . Going to drag races with them Saturday .

Dyno it still would not run dry even with a 427. My big old tour boat stays down in the water where a boat should be. LOl :scratch: :stirpot:

I just bought one of white performance 427 652 hp with 592 torque and not sure what gearbox not sure what gear 2.37 or 2.50

That's what we finished tonite but we went with smaller cc afr heads to change torque numbers. Dyno in morning to see if it worked .
Looked at numbers on a 471 sbc today dirt track motor they were unreal

jungle cat what rpm are you turning with R blades with 427 what number pitch

Set at 3 it turn 6200 at 3.5 / 5600. Gonna dyno new motor this morning .

Learn what we wanted to know about cross drilled cranks , oil pump selection and timing . This wasn't just a horsepower run . We pulled runs at 32 & 34 & 36 & 38 degrees timing. We did a continuous 30 minute run to proove a cross drilled crank airiates the oil at mid and high continuous rpms (3000 & up) . 3 hours on the dyno , leaving with the right crank , oil pump and right plugs, timing and happy happy happy .

There are two different ways to cross drill better be sure you got the right way

Got rid of the cross drilled. Didn't like what it did with oil pressures. The one I had was fine probably for drag racing but for long runs it would cause pressures to continually drop . Went back to standard crank .

Can really tell the difference with altitude with carb. It's way too rich here but tuned perfect for Fla.

The trip has been great. Got everything done that we wanted. Mr. Whites shop is great and his staff is first class. The numbers they are getting off 93 pump gas are unreal. If you are willing to run racing fuels the sky is the limit. Seen numbers on a sbc 471 that were unreal . The airboat motor program maybe in its infancy but not the knowledge of how to build high performance motors. If you are looking for an affordable powerplant for your boat look no farther than Whites.

jungle cat do know your Compression ratio on your motor 427 did you dyno it trying to see what to expect from my 427

10.5 or 10.6 , it will run on pump 93 , no problem. We were testing with and without cross-drilled crank. We like the constant oil pressures with the non- drilled crank. Pressures vary too much with cross-drilled crank.

no problem , wish I could hve stayed and did it for a week . It would have been fun to try different combos of parts. The good thing about it is they have records of all the different combinations they have tried and built. Mr. White has a vast knowledge of high performance. He has been in the game a long time.

I emailed Fred 3 days ago about 2 engines I wanted to get built and I haven't heard a word you must have kept them busy.

Fred was pretty much busy the whole time I was there , I wanted to pick his brain , but he was in and out . I was working with Greg (shop manager) and Larry (head engine builder/ dyno-man). They had 6 , on stands in engine room and at least 20 in waiting. Thunder Valley at Bristol opens at the end of the month and everyone is wanting something freshen up.
