Ballistic gear box video

Post by Bagman »

https://vimeo.com/71216387

The guys at Ballistic sent me a new box to try out. They have continued to make some small changes to the box. The one I took off was very smooth and quiet but I told them sure I would try the new one out. I made a quick video of it running on trailer and most importantly how quiet it is at idle. These boxes are very sweet!

Really, the only noise I could hear is the exhaust and the Supercharger.

rumbles a little but four big hollow blades with a rough idle thats pretty damn good nowhere near as rough sounding as a rotator but time will tell if that box will hold up like a rotator

Sweet vid Mike!!!! That motor sounds gooooood!! 8) Wish they had a closer ratio to what i need. 1.8 is too much gear. Im pushing the envelope at 1.7 and rather run a 1.53

If that is all I hear, I will be tickled pink!!! It is way quieter than the stinger and rotator with no vibrations. I will video mine tonight with the Stinger 2.38 drive I have.

X2 that supercharger is nasty! I need one! :thumbleft: The ballistic looks nice and seems quiet. No where near as loud as a rotator

Love the sound of a centrifugal super charger!

Minor thing I noticed, that may not be so minor sometimes, is the fact that your intercooler is not perpendicular to the incoming air stream. It is going to heatsoak much quicker mounted that way and provide less sustained IAC temperature control.

Scenario I am thinking of is running ground at low forward speeds.

Love the look and sound....very nice boat!

I was concerned about that too. Been running it like that for a while now and normal IAT is about 10 degrees over ambient. Prop pulls enough air to prevent heat soak even on dry ground. Plus the Meth helps LOL. Also have considered fabbing up a scoop for it to direct the air more down through the intercooler.

The video doesn't do it justice have heard the boat myself, and no where near as bad as a rotator. Took a rotator off a friends boat and put the ballistic on and took a majority of the big blade "chatter" out of it.

Also with a radical cam it's hard to keep them from chattering. Looks like a sweet box.
