Crazy I been diving sense 1979 and you never seen one till 2000's, they do overpoluate a reef and eat all the little fish as well, they say they go all the way to North Carolina now Kill them all but watch those pretty little spines but I never seen that many in one spot and dang big ones as well

That's crazy. The State should host weekly tournaments in different areas w/ large prize money to help control them. That would be the cheapest way to control them. They will end up pouring millions into it otherwise.

We were down in the keys recently and I had lionfish for dinner at The Castaway in Marathon!

It was freakin awesome!! I recommend trying it if you get the opportunity!!

Oh yea!!! Lion fish are excellent to eat. The meat is starke white and eats like hogfish. I carry some sissors with me and cut all the spines off while its still on the spear. I even bought a small pole spear about 24" called a lion tamer.

I dove a bunch this best summer and thats what I saw pretty much everywhere. It is very upsetting. I have never seen so many so I started shooting them and am surprised at how good they are. I kill all I can. I also found a commercial market for them. You wont get rich selling them but you can pay for gas with them.

Eats like hogfish huh, looks like they are as stupid as hogfish too. Maybe worse and I didn't think that was possible. Just sitting there waiting to get stuck.
