Gonna need some tweaking but at this point if it looks decent holds the rudders and protects the prop and people from the prop I’ll be happy

Tweaked the cage and got it even. Think the hoops match good and looks straight. Gonna get the rest of the braces and mounts done tomorrow and possibly rudder mounts. Let me know how it looks.

Doess anybody know of a tachometer I could use on the small block 350 that only does up to like 4K rpm? I don’t know how the aircraft engines signal the tach but would be cool to use a 4K rpm tach for this boat

I use ISSPro gauges. They make electronic and mechanical and I have an electronic with a scale to 3,000 RPM on my boat with electronic ignition.

Here are two short video clips of the first few test runs. Yes the cage had a little vibration but it isn’t fully welded just tacked together. Also missing a couple mounts. Probably shouldn’t have ran it with the prop but I couldn’t wait. I was sure it was sturdy enough but that is why I didn’t fully rev it up. I’m not sure exactly what I revved it up to to make it move but I know it was less than 2500 for sure. The second video link is the one we’re it moved. But man I missed the sound of that prop.

Rudders mounted. Couple braces on the rudder brackets and and the cage is coming off to fully weld and add the wire and paint then going back on. Maybe next weekend will be the first yard test

Got wire on the gauge. Used #12 grid wire which was cheap. Only $7 for 100ft It took about 225ft and I have to say hand laying ain’t no joke. First time doing it and the grid wire came in a roll not straight peices. I think it looks pretty good and will do the job. Let me know what you think!! It’s kind of like a mix between 3x3 and 3x4-4.5 squares and rectangles. I like it.

Finished the cage Friday and Saturday I did a lot of buttoning up. Got it ready to fire up and drove it around the yard and decided to do a maiden voyage. Me and two passengers and it ran pretty good. Planned out fairly quick and actually did not porpoise. It felt like if a wave got it started I would have to speed up to get it to stop but it didn’t start porpoise it on it own. Still need to put my stringer jack bolts in and paint the rudders. All in all it was a good first run and ran good. Untill my ignition module went out. Lol. Now I know to have spare modules and coils just in case. Luckily my buddy towed me back

Lol so it wasn’t the module the 12v ignition wire going to the coil on the coil side not the harness side broke in half. I wonder why they used solid wire for those prongs rather then stranded. If it was stranded it would never brake
