I'm new to this forum. That doesn't mean I'm new to airboats. Problem for me is there
hasn't been much space in my life to indulge my love for them. In 1968 at the age of 8, I stayed in trouble at school for drawing pictures in class. I lived on the Loxahatchee refuge. Dad was with the Department of the Interior.
I've been following your build and you did a fine job. Now take this for what it's worth, up until 2009, I was self employed most of my adult life. I owned a welding and fab business. If I had the resources, I would build my own little rig. Take into consideration that the big outfits (Dyna, Diamond Back, Panther Poorboys and on and on) have full blown shops.
Complete with all the latest and greatest equipment. Mandrel benders, CNN machines, brakes and equipment that
smaller builders don't have. You can be proud of rig. Especially considering that there is probably less than 10% of us on here that could take a stack of aluminum and a pile of parts and build an airboat. I don't personally know Chuck Rackley (?), but from what I've read on here, he is a giant in airboating. That's the spirit of people like you and any of the rest of us with the resources and opportunity to do what we love. Like the previous post, anybody can buy a one. I haven't had one for years now and I hope to build one one day. Enjoy your accomplishment.

How much hp is it less than the dm boat? That will tell us if it was a fair race, they looked pretty close

It's that way in drag racing. Half the sportsman dragsters are all almost identical. Kurt Damron set the standard in that industry.

I'm sure someone will say there's a big difference but I'd be willing to bet there ain't that much. No one is ever honest about that stuff

One motor is 418 inches with a factory truck block and heads the other is 502 with a aftermarket RHS block and aftermarket heads. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Its the same block we have been running in unlimited for several years now. I have been building both style motors for a long time. Its kinda like comparing the motor in your truck to a Cup motor. One has factory parts the other is 100% aftermarket!

To me the best part of it was the hand shake at the end.That is the sign of a gentleman. Probably going over in his mind what can be changed to squeeze 2 more MPH out of it. It's not all HP.

Heard your boat ran the most free of the (2) in the water by far. Heard this from a pretty reliable source. Some guy up in Kansas said you had a hell of a tune on that beast.

There's the innovator's and the copy cats. Unfortunately, in the performance world, R and D work means Rob and Duplicate in a lot of instances.

why don't u just build a 300hp motor then if 140hp is not much different

Hammer head we but heads a lot. But I couldn't agree with you more on your statement. I will say we were one of the 1st to run a aluminum LS on a airboat the very first 4 RHS motors on airboats were ours. One of the earliest RHS blocks to be built was ours. (GOT A PROTO BEFORE THEY WENT INTO PRODUCTION) Now that everyone is running LS motors in airboats and RHS motors in raceboats. Were switching to a new motor and drive its one I have never seen on a airboat. Along with hammer heads statement we say

"If you copy someone you will only achieve what has already been done."
