Re: Considering buy a aluminum engine
Didn't think you could use LS7 heads on a LS3..the 7 has much bigger intake valve then the LS3 and a bigger cylinder and there's not enough room for them on the smller LS3 cylinder

Re: Considering buy a aluminum engine
Here we go again, not happy and problems with the pro built BBC from 2 years ago, most of you guys have told me all along to go with ls motor, considering this option: $2300 firm 07 truck l76 6.0 aluminum motor. same block as a ls2 but has the l92 square port heads on it. has vvt and dod. was told ...

If you can't turn a 70" Q series on 3 any harder than that with a belt box than that thing is a turd! A strong 200 horse 4 cylinder can turn that much prop...

Re: Sbc 268 3 bld R
Single plane intake edlebrock performer , rhs cast heads . I'm cruising at about 25-35 mph . My old boat had same motor with a 1.7 box with a 2 blade Sirius and wot was 5000 and cruise was 3-3100. Idk what else to do Yea you were spinning the shit out of that prop also...major tip speed...hell you ...

Re: Sbc 268 3 bld R
Have you tried a longer prop...I don't see you getting your cruise down to 2900 or so with poly, steel rigging and a very mild small block and 80" prop...the saber has been the best cruising prop I've ran by far...it just lacked it down low and out of the hole compared to my R blade

6k....I don't see you taking pitch out to spin it harder and making your cruise go down. I run an 82" also. I'd start by playing with jacks and motor angle.

Re: Sbc 268 3 bld R
Everyone's idea of cruise is different. Weight plays a key role. As well as power, gear, prop and length. My boat will cryise anywhere from 2500 on up depending on how fast I wanna ride. That's deep water crusie

Every motor has a different part#. Your old school sbc isn't the same as an LS. Go to napa they have them or O'riellysscrambletown wrote:DAVE,
