Re: Need a wiring harness for a 8.1 Levitator

Them damn Tree Rats will do it every time lol. I had a mechanic/tuner tell me not long ago that it's even worse now because the wire casings are made out of a plant based material. If it's a Pleasure Craft Marine 8.1 levitator I would reach out to them to get a new wiring harness. If not I would rec...

Re: Stossel Palm Beach Hull Riveted Rake Cap Replacement

I always recommend putting anodes on airboats but especially if it is 7075. If the boat is only used in fresh water you would use a Magnesium anode. If you use the boat in fresh and salt (brackish) water then you use an Aluminum anode. If it is used in only Salt then you would use a Zinc anode. The...

Re: New AirRanger Set up ?

I would drop it down to the 12 or 13 mark on the hub. For a ruff estimate you will gain 50-75 rpm per blade per each mark on the hub when taking pitch out. You will lose 50-75rpm per blade per each mark on the hub when adding pitch. Also your static (on the trailer) Rpm will be about 200rpm or so le...

Re: New AirRanger Set up ?

If I was you I'd be taking pitch out of the prop to get it to spin more rpm. If you have the Whisper Tip Ex prop you can safely turn it 5750 RPM's with your gear ratio per Whirlwind. Also you are leaving power on the table by only turning 4900 RPM's. I would recommend getting it to at least 5400 and...

Re: Warp drive question

Are you talking about the bolts that clamp the blades or the bolts that mount the prop to the motor? The bolts mounting the prop to the motor should be 1/2" not 5/8". The torque for the 1/2" bolts are 55-60 ft lbs.

Re: 6.2 ls engine options

I can tell you that 500-550hp is going to be under powered for what you want to do with that size boat unless it's an extremely light weight build. To make that size boat run dry ground decent you need to be looking at least 650hp but better if you go over 700+hp. With that said you definitely need ...

Re: Aluminum hull refit

Roger that. I was told to put steelflex on before poly to help to keep corrosion to a minimum. It came from a guy with a riveted hull. His reason was because his bottom is 6061 alloy and keep the corrosion at bay. Steelflex is a bottom coating, it does not flex as stated, the elastomeric roof coati...

This should help you out. I have a 800hp 540 BB with a 84" 4 blade Whirlwind Super wide and a 2.55 gearbox. I can tell you that if I was less then 700hp the prop would be to much prop to set the prop in the right pitch zone.

Yes unfortunately tons of rain on the way and with that added to all the rain we have had the last few weeks I'm willing to make a bet it won't be long before they close it do to high water :stirpot: . Area 2A went from pretty much no water 3 weeks ago to now to much damn water. It's never ending ar...

If I remember correctly the Stinger gearbox is 73 lbs. I'm not 100% sure about ballistic or oxbox but I've installed both of them and I would say they are pretty close in weight to the Stinger.

Re: I need advice please

My best advice for you is to get rid of the steering wheel and make it a steering stick. You have more steering one way then the other because your linkage of what ever you are using to connect the steering wheel to the rudders is not set evenly.

Re: Fuel Injection for MAS 540 Chevy

I have a MAS 540 and changed from carb to the Holley HP port injection and love it. The Holley HP system is awesome but if you don't know tuning it makes it pretty hard. But from everything you said I feel your best option is to go with the Holley Sniper system. The Holley Sniper system is a pretty ...

I couldn't agree with Swamp more. You are leaving A LOT of meat on the bone with that ratio. How much RPM's do you want to spin?

Re: Lycoming Spin on Filter Swap, Champion CH48110-1, Napa 1515

I guess the guy in the video didn't know that a Napa Gold filter is a Wix filter. It's a Wix filter tagged and boxed for Napa. Also the only difference in there part numbers is removing the first number from the Wix to get the Napa Gold. I personally only use Wix of Napa Gold filters. I've had a Fra...

Re: Belt drive replacement belt

I can tell you from changing many belts and working on boats with century belt drives that the Blackhawk belts are not smart to use. The Blackhawk belts are to hard for the metal they use for their gears and the belt premature wears the teeth on the low gear. In my opinion it is cheaper to buy the r...
