Do you run dry a lot? I tend to use my boat more like a 4 wheeler than a boat. I run a k&n style on mine.

Re: lycoming running lean at idle?
Engine degreaser or wd 40. Spray it anywhere you think may be a leak. You will hear a change in rpm. Have an extinguisher handy, these damn things have too many spark plugs.

Re: Lycoming 320 power and prop
OK sounded fishy my old 320 was outspinning a 360. Still impressed the 360 can spin the wide blade 72", thats a 6 cyl prop!
I think my blades are 10.5", what are the wider ones?

Re: Lycoming 320 power and prop
Yeah my bad its the b mark, right where the blade halves are molded together. And yes 12.5 degrees. From what I'm told a 68" cypress is the prop to have, but every boat is different. My boat is by no means light with its square tube rigging, so maybe the extra push is a good thing. I believe so...

Re: Lycoming 320 power and prop
My prop is right at the "seam" where they mold the prop, if I remember correctly Patti said that's the #2 mark or 12.5 degrees. Turns right about 2800.

Re: Lycoming 320 power and prop
I have a av320 with a 72" whisper tip and it pushes like a tractor. No snap and not very fast but will run the hill loaded. More diameter, more push. My buddy had a sled with a 320 with a 66" cypress and it hauled ass but got hung up all the time. Also don't know what you run for a bottom ...

Re: Best prop for my 0-360 AV
If you only have room for a 66 try a 3 blade. My buddy ran a 3 blade sabre on a 180 and it had great snap and worked great on a very light ricochet glass hull. Most of the time a dealer will let you try out a prop before you buy one to see what you like.

Re: Slick bottom fiberglass hull durability
Slick bottom is a lot more slippery than poly anyday especially when it's really hot out, and your boat will handle better with slick. Poly is much more durable, I have to take my boat apart at least 2 or 3 times a year and $200+ for materials each time adds up. But I'm running a little 4 banger and...

Re: Gheenoe Airboat
Sell the gheenoe and buy an airboat. You cant hardly stand in one of them things without it tipping over, much less put a prop that will produce so much torque. And where would you plan on putting say a 60" prop on a boat 2 feet wide?

Re: Headlight
Take a look at stratusleds.com ,they have a 100 watt led with a parabolic aluminum reflector that makes a set of truck headlights look like a little night light. I believe it puts out 13000 lumens out the front. They can be run off battery or plugged in. It comes as a "kit" but only takes ...

Re: Airboat Hull jet boat?
I think keeping the bottom flat is important, I tried to make my bottom flat on my boat when we did the new stringers, and it still has a little hop to it, i opted to keep the poly on my hull ( for ginnie springs trips) so i just shimmied the poly and all good. Now if you bury the pump deep in the w...

Re: Airboat Hull jet boat?
I think you're referring to my jet jon rowdy1, it's a 12' with a yamaha 760 in it. Runs pretty good about 42 mph, but yes hes right it loves to slide, if it has a decent amount of weight in it and you slow down to turn it actually turns pretty good. I dont have any pics right now but will try to pos...

If the flywheel and gear aren't chewed up, put the gear in the oven and the flywheel in the freezer and it will slide right on.

Re: Lycoming 0290 help
Probably easier to try to and get a lighter hull and rigging. Otherwise you can have the case machined for bigger jugs and crank. And theres lots of other things that make a good airboat run right, the right prop, right thrust angle, what bottom is on it and if the bottom is true, maybe a Jack or 2, ...

It's a sacrificial anode.helps prevent electrolysis on your hull. For boats that normally stay in the water. A big tour boat is the only airboat that I would think that ever needs one (Stays in water).Any boat that touches salt water should have one for sure. Ive probably changed a 1000 of them thing...

2 ounces a gallon and this was on an old c10 Chevy. Engine builder said to do it so I did. Ran like a bat outta hell and never skipped a beat. Truck had a low gear in the ass and never fouled out 1 plug.
