You only need the big wire hooked to your system, (hot side of solenoid), hook the voltmeter to a ground and the ignition switch accessory post.
The one wire alt will energize when you rev the motor the first time

Check fuel pressure between pump and carb when running, should maintain 5 to 7 lbs.

Yep, its a good idea to use a vernatherm, engine needs to run enough temp to displace moisture from combustion. Take advantage of Twister's offer for parts.
Question please, do vernatherms have different temp settings from factory?

Re: Motor running hot.
When ya get it, you will figure out how it goes, valve, spring, plug behind it. Just be careful not to cross-thread the plug, you are compressing the spring while you are installing plug.

Re: Still waiting for first "official" cold front

We almost always had a killing frost a week or so before then, so that the grass would be dead and dry, the dogs could smell the birds better. Now even in north Florida, we usually don't an...

Re: 0360 mag timing/kickback during starting
I have large cables, hi output starter, engine will spin fast enough for impulse mag to stop impulsing, and no, the engine is not worn out. I prime engine, turn on impulse, then give short starter runs to stop kickback.
