    Insurance

There is a lot involved. As EastBay said he is a first timer and got Markel. I have Geico. I also have may years experience and have had many years of being insured. Things like home made or total built by a recognized builder, full cage, carbon fiber prop. The insurance companies may also look...

    Honda powered airboat

I wonder if all that is going to fit in that cage. Also what size fuel tank is on that boat.

    Honda powered airboat

Why not stick a aircraft engine on that and learn how much fun you can have. Putting a motor like you have on that is like learning how to drive your first time in a drag racing car. I will say I know nothing about that motor but the HP and torque numbers are over the top. OneBFC probably has...

    LS Motors.

https://www.corrosionx.com/products/corrosionx Corrosion X is your friend. I spray the motor everywhere, keeping it off belts and off air filter. I even spray the exhaust, start the boat up and burn the oil off leaving a film maybe. The motor will stay oily. You can’t run dirt roads because sand...

    Newbee question about potential purchase

There are a lot of safety factors in running a airboat. Don’t get a boat if you can’t get proper stick time training.

    Newbee question about potential purchase

I look at reserve power like this. My boat runs fine in deep water from 3200 to 3600 rpm’s and on a windy day a little more. Some real windy days it might push 4000 rpm’s. My top rpm range is 5150 rpm’s. The reserve power are those high rpm that gives you a kick in the azz to get going. Skinny...

    Newbee question about potential purchase

Do what Blownaway540 said. One thing about airboats is you need reserve power, there is a saying power out. If a boat starts to have a problem like maybe getting stuck or water coming over the back you need that reserve power. If you get a boat that you have to run hard with no extra power it...

    Will this thing push?

I don’t know anything about aircraft but that seems like a big boat for what you want and the 1000 lbs puts it over the top. I would start with a BBC 454 with a decent amount of torque.

    duramax 6.6

GTO in Ocala built one a while back. You may get some info from them. I seem to remember them also building a boat with a smaller diesel for use out of the country. I would go LS.

    deck over

I hope he has set time, this thread is 10 years old. But I will say I like full deckovers.

    Yeah, He Did That.

How do trolls find posts like this. It’s creepy! It’s a little discouraging about fuel prices but I am not going to let that ruin my ridding.

The green hull. Mine is from a different builder but very similar.

    Hull design for ice

I am not a builder and have never been on ice/snow with a airboat. I would think that may not track good. I have a Alaskan hull that has so to speak cants not chines. I just prefer that style hull.

    Towing

I am thinking about downsizing trucks. Has anyone towed say a 15’ airboat with a Colorado, Ranger, or even a Jeep Gladiator. My concern is not weight but all the wind drag making the truck downshift or run lower gears at highway speed. I also wonder about sway on windy days. Thanks
