We use them in our Porsche race cars. I have had hundreds of hours at 6k+ rpm, on one set with no measurable wear. They are usually within race balance right out of the box.

I have had a bad experience with mahle pistons in one of our race motors. We had the coated pistons and all the coating flaked off and got stuck in valves and just plain made a mess... I wouldn't use there coated ones if it were mine ...

Great pistons In my view...never ran a coated set. JE's & Diamonds have also given great service and they were coated....

they are good for naturally aspirated motrs. but if you are wantin to use a power adder such as nitrous blower turbo etc. i would steer clear of them. they will break they arnt made out of the greatest medal for the applications. i know run ROSS or JE pistons and love them thats what i would recommend. just my .02 everyone has there opinions.

you'll here good and bad in every piston the main thing is get forged if your going to run n.o.s. you already have them so use them just be careful of nitrous like travis said i have alot of experience in high h.p. Ross or j&e pistons are great for the price. one of my employee bought a set of speedpro Teflon coated pistons they were good untill he sucked a rad down the carb the coating came of and made a mess

I like the BRC pistons, if they can hold up for a guy like me they are pretty good.

Mahle (pronounced molly) pistons are actually at the top of the food chain in design. They are cheap right now because of entering the mass market in the US and striking a vendor deal with Eagle. The pluses are very light, extremely rigid, and bulletproof it N/A applications. The negatives are that they are used to racing in Indy cars and CART, with very high L/S ratios (long rods with short strokes). They have a lot of piston rock in domestic applications with lower L/S ratios, and since they are listening to too many suggestions in the mass market of people blaming poor engine building on their piston design, they change too much stuff from day to day, and hurt their interchangeability, as well as take a design that was close to perfect and ruin it because someone who didn't know how to build an engine complained about something. IF you are an engine builder and not an assembler, you will love these pistons. If you are a weekend builder....You probably won't.
As far as poor material goes.....Hmmmm. Actually, they have two main materials they use. Their choice material is slightly more maleable with low expansion characteristics, and is what their overall design is modeled after....And the BIG number two is what the early Eagle kits came with due to demand of the new contract.....A higher expansion alloy (Much like a BRC or "West Coast" slug (Venolia, Arias, Ross)) that requires much more piston to wall clearance and more head to piston clearance to work.....Unfortunately that hurt much of the piston's plusses.
Take it with a grain of salt from someone who has used every brand mentioned on this thread times 4.....It's an awesome piston.....Just know your sheot when usin em. JMO
