I want to make more power. 383 stroker runnin a waterthunder cam all roller. and vortech iron heads . What can i do to pick up some power.

edelbrock intake 650 carb hei ignition.. Im wanting big increase not 5 here or there i know carb needs to go but that will come with other changes.. NO Nos lol...

Without NOS I'd say look into a forced induction with a better carb setup. Maybe look into a set of really nice heads...... I don't think there isn't a single part or upgrade that's going to give you huge gains in power.

How much power increase could i get with a new set of heads. ANd what is a nice set of heads

yes heads are a big part of hp the faster you get in the air and get it out the better the power, compression makes power too which can be uped with heads but you are limited to what fuel and if you want it to live

Air flow research(AFR) makes some nice aluminum heads. They also have a head recommendation form. Basically you tell them what you use you motor for and the specs of your motor are and they will tell which of there heads would work best for your motor. I'd also consider talking to whom ever built your motor in the first place and see what they think, assuming their a reputably builder.

Ill prob talk to him and see if goin with a good set of alum heads would do it.

maybe u can switchout gearbox to 2.5 or 2.6 to 1 and make more power that way!!

Can you put a supercharger on it? Pricey, but it would give it a kick in the pants.

He is running an hei distributor as am I. What gains could he see if he switched to a Mallory ignition with coil or mallory, coil and box ignition? I heard you could gain 40hp like this but have not researched it enough to know

From what ive been told today changin out the heads prob wont be worth it that the vortechs are pretty damn good. If i had the change id by that 1300 hp motor i had in the classifieds for a while blown supercharged alcohol motor convert it back to gas and roll with it. That mofo was nasty.

Warrior i had a msd box on it at one point and took it off had problems with. every msd box ive ever owned i had problems with and left me sittin. I know mallory is better but would like to know more about it. I like the hei its simple and does well

I am going to sell my boat and I do not want the system on it when I sell it. Everything on the boat will be 100% but if you get some idiot playing with the N2O system they could hurt the new motor and come back crying about how I sold them a bad motor. Without the system I know the motor will run just find for years.

I hate to say it but I don't think you change any one component and find that much. I think a ratio change will give you the most. A set of AFR heads on your motor will not even pick you up 200RPM's. Your Vortecs are about the best heads for your application!

Thunder how much could one expect in rpm increase with a 150 shot of nitrous??? my speed shop said only about 300 rpms can that be true???

To follow up on that question... lets say you have S blades, 2250 max IIRC, you have a ratio gear drive correct, and motor and pitch set that you get 2250 on the blades max is what I 'm assuming, I know the extra "300" rpms helps, but how does it hurt the blades? Do they push past their max? Its safe only say for a 10 second shot or whatever?
