Pulled my engine out of my boat after it locked up, and I'm trying to remove my kway reduction housing from engine to see if the reduction is locked up. I removed the six bolts from bell housing and was able to see shaft, but can't tell how it's attached, is there a secret to removing it? :dontknow: :louisiana:

No, I did see a few bolts on the flywheel looking under the bell housing, I can get to them , but being I cannot rotate the engine r the reduction idk if I can reach the top ones from underneath. Is this the flex plate? Is this what connects the two together ?thx for the help

Yes it connects them. you may have to pull your motor apart on the stand to the point you can rotate it or pull them as a unit remove the oil pan and take the rods loose from the crank. If the reduction unit is whats locked up I am not sure whats your best option ? See if you have and bearing materials in the oil of both units and that should be a tell on where you have a problem.

You need a shot gun, ky jelly, a stick of dynomite ,one wrench, and a monkey in a hat. But not necessarily in that order.
