If you are referring to magneto timing you can do it easily. Take out #1 sparkplug turn engine over till you get compression stroke and piston to top dead center, the crankshaft studs should be dead level, next mark the flywheel to centerline of case. Now depending on your ring gear count to the left 11 teeth if you have a fine tooth ring 9 for a coarse tooth. Then move it back to this mark and you will be at 25* before TDC. Next remove the sight plug on the magnetos then the point cover plate, rotate the mag armature till you see a painted bevel tooth on the gear through the sight hole, plus observe the cam on the points as it should be just opening them, this sets the mag @ #1 and is ready to put into the engine, once on the engine turn the mag slightly to where the points just barely start to break open and lock the mag down, you can get a critical setting by using an ohm meter to the points but it isnt really needed.
I never finish anyth,,,.
