A little electrolosis isnt bad if you can get it out without going too thin, patches are fine if done correctly, poly is dangerous if not done correctly and if allowed to dry rot to the point of tearing off in sections, it turns into instant mayhem when it does.

For the best quality hull in the woods save your money and call Benny. The reason the best boats in the woods are called Webbs is because Thurman retired !!! :thumbleft:

If they want my rivets, they'll have to pry them from my cold, dead, patriot missiles...

I own a Scorpion sled and it slides nice and flat.
Look at the hull designs and transom shapes. Some have wider and narrower pads, longer and shorter radius and hard or soft chines that affect ride and handling. Some slide and some cut turns sharper.

Glades Cat and Crazy Frog: what is the rivet spacing like on your hulls? I'm curious. I've heard a lot of negative comments about riveting, fit and finish on a Scorpion on this site, but when I see the hulls in person, they look very nice. I don't own one, but from what I've seen, 1/2" staggered spacing on both sides of the runner. No gaps. Looks patterned. All rivets seem flush. No corrosion on the older hulls. I honestly have never taken a level to one, but they look like the build process had a high attention to detail. They are made of 6061, but that's still strong material.

You know, there are a lot of people out there who copy hulls, or sell hulls and call it something it's not.

You fellas making the bad rivet spacing claim sure about what you are saying? If you are right, that is messed up, but man there are a lot of old Scorpion hulls out there that have lasted many years. I've also seen a lot of people on this site swear by them. GTO has one for sale in their yard right now if I am not mistaken. Big green one with a hopped-up small block. I wouldn't think GTO would be selling something with flawed craftsmanship. I'd venture to guess they would have went through that thing with a fine tooth comb before putting it in their yard.

Sorry for the late response...the rivet spacing and pattern on my 11' is pretty good! As far as the hull in the water, slides good, rides straight, out of the hole good...but flattens out on full plane due to my engine angle! So far I've been real happy with what I paid for..believe me i would have rather built my own hull and of course it would have been a copy...LOL Its to bad that it's gotten so nasty on the topic of Scorpion hulls...and all I can say is when you make the final payment and come upon and agreement, that be it! With age and some knowledge I found you can B$$CH and Moan...but in most situations, it ain't goona help! JMO

Just met w/ Al David last sat and bought one of his boats. It pays to take the time ask questions, look at these folks hulls in process of being built and assess against your wants/needs and affordability. Definitely like taxidermy, you get what you pay for and you will have to deal with decision every time you ride or look at that ugly deer head!
