thats an old picture there cowboy, That would be Bob Stossel Sr. at John Prince Park, It was an Airboat and Halftrack club of Palm Beach county BBQ, He is riding maybe the first 4'-6" bottom by 11'-6" long hull of his own design, with a 65 HP continental,I remeber it as if it where yesterday.

Bob Stossel Sr. after serving in the Air Force, designed the first single airfoil rudder for an airboat, still used today, it actually makes high pressure on one side while making low pressure on the other. it increases side to side push to move the boat on dry ground and thick vegitation, It takes little movement to get a boat to take off, that is if it can go in the first place.

It was me who sent it to Cowboy. I know he's not on FB but I knew he'd love the picture. I thought it was a very cool picture, but knowing now just who it is, where it was taken and why makes it all the ore better. Hats off to a legend Bob Stossel and Stossel airboats.

That picture use to hang on the shop wall in the office for many years even after Bob passed way. It's awesome to see it again and it will be more awesome to have it on a T-shirt may be so after this week.

What's ironic about this pix the Gladesmen who built these boats definitely wasn’t scared of deep water in their Palm Beach hull. Maybe because no one had one of them welded barges back then that handled so much better in deep water. Too bad we no longer have access to John Prince Park and that silly ski jump is not in the middle of the lake, because it would be cool to see one of them car motors make this jump, in today's real world.

Next time y'all accuse a Palm Beach hull of being unsafe in deep water I’ll refer you to take another look at the real-thing in action

We ran a 1977 Stossel for three years and had to park it, will run it again one day, much tougher than fiberglass at least a sledge hammer and a little 5200 will keep you going!!!!!!!!
