Lake Winder in the late 60's. That's my brother Ray on the left, Uncle Boxcar (Cecil Carroll) in the middle, & me on right on the right with the soda water.

I'd bet there's a couple of airboats on the hill there behind the photographer. The old wooden boat was a rental from Lone Cabbage...that's what we used to get the softshell turtles back to the hill. Smile

Uncle Boxcar looks healthy as hell right there, but died of lukemia not too long after that picture was taken.

That's an awesome photo. We used to rent those old boats too. I don't know where, it may have been Lone Cabbage too. Good times.

Yeah , we rented those old wooden tanks a time or two also.
We stuck little 3 1/2 horse kicker on it.

The thing about those old wooden boats was that you could fill one all the way to the gunnels with water and it would still float, at least for a few hours. Man, they were heavy though.

That's a good looking OMC product hung on that transom.
We gotta 64 18hp Speedtwin Olf.
Looks like brand new when the cowling is removed.

I've got a '36 Evinrude and two '37 Johnsons. Sometime if you're up this way come and take a look. There is no cowling ..... the flywheels are right out in the open.
Those Speedtwins would run forever if you kept oil in em.

*Just posted a couple photos of one*

That was an old 10 hp Evinrude. It wouldn't plane those old boats, so that was one long ride across Lake Poinsett (about 5 miles).

Bet it was Rick, but back then it didn't matter .... you weren't in a hurry, and you were By God fishin!
I used to ride my bike out to a conservation lake, dig some worms, and catch some little bluegill that nobody would want to eat. All day long with a balogna sandwich and a warm RC Cola. That didn't matter when you were 12. You'd gone fishin.
