Pro Race category boats were required to have 7" prop guard bar spacing, 1"x2" welded wire, etc.
I flipped one of my boats end over end off the race track and across dry ground for quite a ways and the prop guard held together and the prop never touched the guard. That was a good testament to the safety that was built into the boats.
